With the NHL Olympic Break right up the road, we can take a look at some NHL players and who they will represent in the Olympics, and the teams they play for in professional hockey. Seven Detroit Redwings have been selected to their countries Olympic rosters. Whether all seven of them playes or not will be determined, as several of them are still nursing injuries. Seven is certainly not the most of any teams. It is actually the 2nd most. The San Jose Sharks have 8 Olympians. Lets take a look at a couple of teams of interest.

San Jose Sharks Olympians:
Dan Boyle (Canada)
Joe Thorton (Canada)
Dany Heatley (Canada)
Patrick Marleau (Canada)
Douglas Murray (Sweden)
Joe Pavelski (USA)
Thomas Greiss (Germany)
Evgeni Nabokov (Russia)

Detroit Redwings Olympians:
Niklas Lidstrom (Sweden)
Henrik Zetterberg (Sweden)
Valtteri Filppula (Finland)
Pavel Datsyuk (Russia)
Tomas Holstrom (Sweden)
Brian Rafalski (USA)
Niklas Kronwall (Sweden)

Also with seven olympians are the Vancouver Canucks
Roberto Luongo (Canada)
Sami Salo (Finland)
Ryan Kesler (USA)
Henrik Sedin (Sweden)
Daniel Seden (Sweden)
Christian Ehrhoff (Germany)
Pavol Demitra (Slovakia)

An entire list of NHL athletes in the upcoming Olympic games can be found here:

Here, I give you the Team USA roster.
Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins)
Ryan Miller (Buffalo Sabres)
Jonathan Quick (Los Angeles Kings)

Tom Gilbert (Edmonton Oilers)
Tim Gleason (Carolina Hurricanes)

Mike Komisarek (Toronto Maple Leafs)
Paul Martin (New Jersey Devils)
Brooks Orpik (Pittsburgh Penguins)
Brian Rafalski (Detroit Red Wings)
Rob Scuderi (Los Angeles Kings)
Ryan Suter (Nashville Predators)
Ryan Whitney (Anaheim Ducks)

David Backes (St. Louis Blues)
David Booth (Florida Panthers)
Dustin Brown (Los Angeles Kings)
Dustin Byfuglien (Chicago Blackhawks)
Ryan Callahan (New York Rangers)
Chris Drury (New York Rangers)
Scott Gomez (Montreal Canadiens)
Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks)
Ryan Kesler (Vancouver Canucks)
Phil Kessel (Boston Bruins)
Jamie Langenbruner (New Jersey Devils)
Ryan Malone (Tampa Bay Lightning)
Mike Modano (Dallas Stars)
Kyle Okposo (New York Islanders)
T.J. Oshie (St. Louis Blues)
Zach Parise (New Jersey Devils)
Joe Pavelski (San Jose Sharks)
Bobby Ryan (Anaheim Ducks)
Paul Stastny (Colorado Avalanche)

Of course, rosters are not locked until 24 hours before the Olympic games begin. Players can be replaced incase an injury occurs.

Also, lets be sure to enjoy watching these athletes in the 2010 Olympics. I say that because the NHL has not yet committed to allowing its players to participate in Olympics after 2010. That is a totally different discussion that I will not get into on this thread.
