A mean case of food poisoning took me to the cleaners this week! I will be back in full swing with a better preview and prediction next week. For now, here are some quick thoughts on who will win in week 1...College football is back!!!

North Carolina vs South Carolina - The Heels have a new DC as Gene Chizik has moved into Chapel Hill. Can he slow down a Steve Spurrier offense that is looking to find playmakers? South Carolina, 28-23

Michigan vs Utah - Gonna go Utes here despite that I think Harbaugh will have his first team finish in the top 20. Utah can play ball, and they are at home and it will be rockin'. This will be a dandy, gotta go Utah, 30-24.

TCU at Minnesota -  As I have said before - never seen UM do a darned thing in football. Doubt it starts against the Frogs in this one. TCU, 42-22

Duke at Tulane - David Cutcliffe has turned Duke into a legit "pretty good" football program. Duke, 37-17

Baylor at SMU - Chad Morris' first game at SMU...gonna be a tough one. Baylor, 45-21

Washington at Boise State - Here is a chance for the Huskies to get a nice OOC win, but it won't be easy. The Broncos are tough at home. Boise State, 30-23

Stanford at Northwestern - Very interesting game. Gonna go with N'western at home close. 27-20

Wofford at Clemson - The Terriers have played Clemson well in past meetings. Gonna go with Clemson big this time, though. 48-21

BYU at Nebraska - First game of the Riley era at NU. The Cougars are a tricky opponent to start with. Going BYU, 37-27

Louisville at Auburn - The Georgia Dome will be rockin', this will be fun to watch! Auburn, 35-28

Virginia at UCLA - Very good opportunity here to see an ACC team get slaughter-housed big time. We shall see. UCLA, 41-17

Arizona State at Texas A&M - Many are saying the Sun Devils could make the playoff. Could it end right away?? Texas A&M 28-27

Texas at Notre Dame - Charlie Strong's boys head to South Bend to tangle with Brian Kelly's Irish. Gonna go ND at home 30-20

Wisconsin vs Alabama - What a matchup! I like both of these programs to have big seasons, but I think Saban's team will get the better of this one. Alabama, 35-24

Ohio State at VT - Would love to see the Hokies shake things up in a major way early, but I think the Buckeyes will be super focused and will play off of what will be an insane crowd in Blacksburg. Ohio State, 37-24
